San Francisco Mountain Biking Connector Trails
The problem with city mountain biking is that, though there may be certain sections of good trails which are within public parks or on private land, there is usually no good way to ride between greenspaces without fighting through crowded and dangerous city streets. Transferring from dirt to pavement and from a quieter greener path to a noisy grey street is not very enjoyable and often not really that safe.
Luckily for San Francisco Mountain Bikers there are a few crucial bike and pedestrian "greenways" which allow the main San Francisco mountain biking loops to be connected.
Park / Presidio Greenway - This connects Golden Gate Park to the Presidio. It is part of the Presidio Loop and the Golden Gate Park Loop rides.
Sunset Avenue Greenway - This connects Golden Gate Park to Stern Grove and Harding Park (Lake Merced). It is part of the Harding Park/Ft. Funston Loop and the Twin Peaks Loop rides.
The Panhandle - This connects Golden Gate Park to (almost) Buena Vista Park. It is part of the Buena Vista Park/Mt. Sutro Loop ride.
Ocean Beach (Great Highway) Multi-Use Path - This connects Golden Gate Park to Ft. Funston. It is part of the Harding Park/Ft. Funston Loop ride.
